Institute of Mathematics announces two positions for VISITING SCHOLARS for 2009/2010

Pending final budgetary approval, the Institute of Mathematics plans to open several positions for visiting scholars from abroad in the period September 2009 - August 2010.

The positions are intended for research-oriented mathematicians from any field of pure or applied mathematics and they carry no teaching duties. Recent PhD's will receive a special attention. The minimum duration of a stay is six months (by mutual agreement).

Candidates should submit a letter of application accompanied by a curriculum vitae and a list of publications to:

Candidates should be PhD; if the applicant has not yet completed his/her doctorate, the expected date of its completion must be given (the latest acceptable date is July 1, 2009).

The letter of application should specify a researcher (or researchers) of the Institute of Mathematics the candidate would like to work with and the preferred duration and time of the stay.

Candidates should further arrange for three letters of recommendation (one can be from a Czech mathematician) to be mailed directly to director's office, so that they are received by January 31, 2009 (e-mail recommendations are acceptable).

The visiting scholar obtains the same salary as Czech employees of the Institute according to current institute regulations. In addition, the Institute can arrange a modest lodging at a reasonable cost in the hotel of the Academy of Sciences.

Deadline for applications is January 31, 2009. The review process will be conducted soon afterwards.
