Gene screening of actinomycetes producing new substances with potential therapeutic applications to modulate immune mechanisms.

Project concentrates on identification of new manumycin-type compounds producers by the method of specific gene "screening". This family of secondary metabolites exhibits attractive immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory activities with low cytotoxicity. Because of it these secondary metabolites might be interesting candidates for future use in medicine. Proposed gene screening provides relatively fast, routine, inexpensive and, above all, specifically targeted form of primary of new producers for subsequent investigations.
