Topic: Chemistry of ions in the gaseous phase relevant to investigation of the ionosphere of Titan.

Characterization: The experimental and theoretical studies of the gas phase ion chemistry relevant to the atmosphere of the Saturn’s moon Titan will be discussed at this workshop. Close attention will be paid to the kinetics and dynamics of elementary ion-molecule collision processes, the products of which have been identified in the atmosphere of Titan (N2, CH4, etc.) by the Cassini-Huygens spacecraft mission. The elementary processes investigated include chemical reactions of ions, processes of charge exchange, reaction of ions in specific electronic states, branching ratios, total cross sections and their dependencies on collision energy.

The aim of the meeting is to share and discuss scientific results and to extend possibilities of further close collaboration between different research groups in order to provide necessary reliable data (identification of processes, reaction cross section and mechanisms) to be used by planetologists involved in modeling ionosphere and atmosphere of the Titan.
