Several mirrors are already spread around the world:
To set up a Mirror is easy, using the Perl5 script available at
You need Perl5 and the CPAN-module LWP::simple plus an Apache http-server with SSI (Server Side Includes) activated. It is tested with Linux (Suse and Redhat) and AIX.
If the CPAN-module LWP::simple is not installed in your Perl-distribution,
the easiest and most convenient way to install the package is to use:
perl -MCPAN -e 'install LWP::simple'
Be aware, the Caudium webserver does not support all SSI methods ('if' and 'else' functionality is missing) by default, so the PhysNet will not be running in a correct way.
The Script should be self-explaining and allows local configuration by configuring the mirror.conf file. Please include the script into the server's scheduling system (crontab).
To set up a mirror costs you only 10 minutes of work for the server-administrator plus approx. 3 MByte of disc-space, but will help to increase availability and accessibility of PhysNet for all Physicists.
For the first mirror in every country we offer a URL cc.physnet.net with "cc" the respective country code.
