Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia Induces 11Beta-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase in Rat Heart.

Myocardial remodeling induced by chronic intermittent hypoxia is associated with up-regulation of cardiac 11beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2. Consequently, local metabolism of glucocorticoids could play a role in the cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis.
