Molecular analysis of ITS sequences in populations of the species Chloromyxum cyprini Fujita, 1927 (Myxozoa:Myxosporea) in cyprinids

The main aim of this project is to study population diversity based on intra- and intergenomic variability of ITS sequences in geographic isolates of the species Chloromyxum cyprini, the common parasite of cyprinids in Czech Republic. 5,8 region and flanking spacers (ITS1 and ITS2) were chosen for the determination of sequence variability. Following phylogenetic analyses could reveal the possible existence of genotypes, host specifity and dependence on geography between isolates. Results of these studies could demonstrate the potential for the use of rDNA spacer sequences to infer phylogenetic relationships among myxosporean taxa. In addition, more taxa and protein- coding gene (mt COI) will be used to support previous results.
