Subject of research

Project is aiming to determine the flowpaths of water in the mountainous watershed during significant rainfall-runoff events. Rapid subsurface outflow is traced by detecting the signature of 18O and the amount of Si in the water. The objectives: 1. Automatic sampling of the water in the subsurface collection trench, in the stream and in the rainwater in the course of heavy rainfalls and the manual sampling of the water in shallow wells, the soil water in the lysimetres and the springs. 2. Determination of 18O/16O isotope ratio and concentration of Si in the water samples. 3. Synthesis of atmogeochemical, climatic and hydrological data in the sampling locations and an estimation of flow dynamics in the soil profile in space and time. 4.Evaluation of the flowpaths in the scales of the watershed and the observed hillslope transect using geochemical and transport numerical models using the concept of dual permeability to express the soil heterogeneity and the existence of preferential
