Subject of research

Due to the viscoelastic nature of polymer materials, polymer creep can significantly effect the long-term strength of materials. Creep test data is used to predict service life and to accurately design products often by means of the computer-aided design programs. The aim of the project is to investigate the influence of the nano reinforcement on the yield and the creep resistance of glassy polymer nanocomposites. The reason is to reduce the creep rate and to increase the yield strength of glassy polymers with a low volume fraction of nanoparticles or nanotubes. The original issue will be the investigation of recuperation of polymer nanocomposites after the creep deformation by thermal treatment and aging. The original thermodynamically consistent formalism will be derived to capture the wide range of nanoparticles influence on the investigated processes including the consolidation in the course of aging. The other logical use is in the computer-aided design programs.
