Verification of applicability of CFD models and determination of proper boundary conditions in agitated vessels

  • Identification: A2060604 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 1996 - 1998
  • Co-investigator: Prof. Ing. Pavel Ditl DrSc. (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, CTU)
  • Co-investigator: Doc. Ing. Václav Sobolík CSc. (Institute of Chemical Processes ASCR)

New trends in theory and designing of mixing apparatures consist in application of computational fluid dynamics. The main aims of this project are: To show the limits of the applicability of the presently available models and software and to compare the calculated results with LDA and ED measurements data for various mixing apparatures. To achieve the best agreement of the theoretical and experimental results the various turbulence models will be tested (k- e, RNG, RSM). An extensive experimental program into the hydrodynamical systems using LDA and ED measurement technique will be undertaken with the aim to obtain proper adjustable constants of the models for commonly used agitated systems.
