Impact of climatic changes on water resources in the basins of the Czech streams

  • Identification: A3060605 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 1996 - 1998

The expected global warming due to enhanced greenhouse effect may cause a change in water regime of the Czech basins during the next century. As the research to date has shown a shift in round-year cycle of runoff and soil moisture due to changes in snow deposits and snowmelts can be expected. First aim of the proposed research is constructing improved climate change scenarios with high temporal (one day) and spatial (site - specific) resolution. The daily time series produced by the climatological part will serve as an input to the rainfall-runoff models (including SVAT category). The results of simulations will be compared with those of the previous projects that were based on the crude spatial and temporal resolution (1 month). The outputs of this project will provide more realistic scenarios of phenomena such as floods, evapotranspiration, soil moisture, ground water storage.
