Short observational manual for 400mm camera
April 10, 2006
The observing via 400mm is quite similar to the 700mm one. We therefore reduce this manual to the differencies and important remarks only.
- * Before observing (forenoon or one day before) ask for the preparing the 400mm camera. You can say your demand to F. Žďárský or to any observer.
- * In the evening just before observing you have to switch the controller source of voltage on. The source of voltage for the controller is situated on the floor in "anteroom" of OES. It is a small metallic box just close to the UPS.
- * The 400mm camera is driven by the alhena computer, identically as 700mm camera.
- * Driving interface is started by the command
observe-loral
. - * This command will open the same window applications as in 700mm camera (i.e. bias CCD control, SAO Image etc.).
And now about differencies:
- * If you use 400mm camera, both correction plates must be pushed away! When you return to 700mm camera, do not forget to insert corresponding correction plate to the optical path.
- * We do not have prepared scripts for preparing exposures, for example
run halfa, run infra
etc. It means that it is not allowed to write down (for example)comp
but we have to fill in exposure time:comp 15
- * We do not have estimated exposure times for various grating angles and depicted spectral regions.
- * Only known spectral region is Hα
Recommended exposure time for the comparison spectrum ThAr is 12-15s, for flat field it is 1s only (!). Grating angle is 41:35 and depicted spectral region is 5968-7209Å.
