Topic | The molecular structure of various forms of conducting polymers studied by Fourier transform infrared and Raman spectroscopies |
Annotation | The main object of the work is the study of the molecular structure of various forms of conducting polymers, viz. polyaniline and polypyrrole, by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies. The research will be concentrated on the molecular structure of the polyaniline nanostructures prepared under various conditions. Surface-modified organic and inorganic microparticles, fibres, textiles, natural materials, and films of conducting polymers will be analyzed by using Raman spectrometer with confocal microscope. Oriented structure of thin polymer films will be studied by the method of polarized FTIR spectroscopy. Molecular structure of new materials prepared by combination of polyaniline with other nano-materials, such as noble metals, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, polymer fibres, or by conversion of the structure of conducting polymers to carbon-like materials by pyrolysis, nanostructures prepared by polymerization in space-restricted environment, such as gels, montmorillonite or membranes will be also studied by the methods of vibration spectroscopy. |
