Influence of vegetation-cover and land-use change on basin water regime- Application on semi-distributed model

  • Identification: KJB3060302 - Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 2003 - 2005
  • Principal investigator: Ing. Romana Košková PhD.

Subject of research

The solution of this project has been motivated by international research in the branch of human activities impacts on watershed. The Land-use and vegetation cover changes have been discovered as the major factor of influence on hydrological processes. In the proposed project the tools are to be prepared for appraisal of future development of water resources in Czech basins with different natural conditions. The models (i.e. SWAT, HSPF in application of BASINS) configured to the GIS environment appear as the most suitable instruments for solution of this problem. The arrangement of the used models into semi-distributed mode and the following implementation for the studied basins will be the second stage of research activities. Evaluation of homogeneity of input data should be a part of it. The calibration of parameters of models will be an important part in this process. Split sample approach as sometimes recommended and applied in recent runoff simulations should be used.

Research Goal

Using the rainfall-runoff hydrological models in semidistributive mode, the influence of vegetation cover and land-use change on runoff formation was analysed.
