Influence of geological conditions on water regime development in river basins of the Bohemian Massif

  • Identification: GA205/03/0468 - Grant Agency of the Czech Republic
  • Duration: 2003 - 2005
  • Principal investigator: Doc. Ing. Josef Buchtele CSc.
  • Co-investigator: RNDr. Zbyněk Hrkal CSc. (Faculty of Science, Charles University Prague)

Subject of research

The theme of the project is the evaluation of the role of geological structure of a territory in runoff formation. Daily time series of measured runoff, precipitation and air temperature prepared for basins with diverse geological conditions will be usedfor simulation of water regime. Semi-distributed deterministic hydrological models with different structure will be applied. Relevant parameters of these models ascertained in calibration process will be then correlated with geological characteristics ofstudied basins. It is supposed that the attempts will be made to discriminate the conditions in crystalline bedrocks, in Cretaceous areas and in flysh region and as the particular region could be possibly considered the quarternary territories. Due toappearing land-use changes it will be necessary to analyse simultaneously the consequence of vegetation cover for runoff process. The aim of the project is to prepare regionalization of parameters of models that characterise the geological conditions in

Research Goal

In the process of regionalization of parameters characterising changes of water resources with time and area the dependence of volume of runoff and groundwater resources on climatic, and geological conditions and the possible influence of vegetation cove
