TopicSimulation of the phase structure evolution in flow of immiscible polymer blends
AnnotationThe phase structure in immiscible polymer blends, which is formed in flow, is determined by the competition between the breakup and coalescence of dispersed droplets. Description of the breakup and coalescence in molten polymer blends leads to very complicated equations unsolvable analytically. Therefore, their mathematical simulation was started. So far, only some simplified models of these phenomena have been studied. The aim of the thesis is to contribute to better understanding and more reliable description of the phase structure evolution in flowing molten polymer blends with the help of mathematical simulation and/or improvement of the theory.
