TopicPhotoactive polymer composites with plasmonic nanoparticles
Annotation"Nanoparticles of various metals, such as silver or gold, induce in their vicinity a local enhancement of optical field that can influence electronic and photonic properties of a surrounding material on a nanometer scale level. The work is aimed towards preparation of such polymer nanocomposites in which the nanoparticles are mutually arranged to form ""hot spots"" with a very high enhancement of incident light. The influence of plasmonic interactions on local charge transfer, luminescence and photochromic cis-trans transitions will be studied. The work will be mostly experimental and the participation of a student on the EU project is assumed. Suitable for students with completed master studies in physical chemistry, polymer and chemical physics and biophysics. "
