TopicHigh-molecular-weight biodegradable polymer carriers for drug targeting
AnnotationIn the last two decades, water-soluble polymers became beneficial drug delivery systems suitable as carriers for anticancer agents, anti-inflammatory agents etc. Prefe-rably, the drugs are covalently bound to polymers via spacers, which enable controlled release of the active drug in treated tissues or cells. The thesis will focus on design, synthesis and study of physicochemical properties of high-molecular-weight biodegradable polymer anticancer drug delivery system intended for application in site-specific tumor therapy. Understanding of influence of conjugate structure on solution properties, controlled release of drug and biological properties (in collaboration with biological institutes) should facilitate design the structures of efficacious polymer cancerostatics. Applicant will work in the fields of organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry and biochemistry and will use many techniques as HPLC, GPC, electrophoresis, etc. Cooperation with biological departments is also a part of this project.
