TopicPolymers for solar cells
AnnotationOrganic photovoltaic is very hot topic today because the search for the “green” energy sources has a high priority at present human society. The goal of PhD. thesis will be to synthesize and characterize new materials based on modified conjugated polymers (e.g. functionalized polyfluorene, polycarbazole, polyphenanthroline, polyphenylene, polythiophene etc.). These materials will be utilized as active layers in photovoltaic devices or in organic light-emitting devices (OLED). The topic of PhD. thesis will be in organic and polymer syntheses and in steady-state and time-resolved photoluminescence or electroluminescence measurements. The monomer syntheses will follow the polymerization principles of Suzuki, Stille or Yamamoto coupling or Grignard metathesis. Our laboratory is equipped for physical measurements of prepared materials as well and, consequently, the thesis can be focused more or less to chemistry or physics according to student choice.
