TopicArtificial biomolecular assemblies capable of controlling growth of cells on polymer scaffoldes applied in tissue engineering
AnnotationA goal of the work is to utilize interactions between biological macromolecules for the preparation of molecular assemblies which would mimic biological structures, such as, extrecellular matrix or fibrin networks, supporting selectively cell adhesion proliferation, and differentiation. The work will be focused, particularly, on the development of structures for seeding endothelial cells on lumen of blood vessel prostheses and on coating surface of inner pores in polymer scaffolds for growing three-dimensional tissue grafts applicable to the replacement of damaged spinal cord or blod vessel wall. The formation of the assemblies will be observed in situ using IR reflection spectroscopy and surface plasmon resonance (SPR). Their morphology will be studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and electron microscopy. Growth of the cells on the developed structures will be continuously evaluated by collaborators at Institute of Physiology AS CR and Institute of Experimental Medicine AS CR.
