He is a specialist in historical ecology and archaeobotany, studying the natural environment of prehistoric cultures. Apart from cooperating on a series of projects of the Archaeological Institute he is facilitating a post-doctoral project of the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (Development of vegetation and synantropisation of the landscape of the central part of the Bohemian Basin in the course of the holocene).
