DEGRADATION, STABILIZATION AND RECYCLING OF POLYMERS

PRAGUE, 14 - 17 JULY 2003

Prague Meetings on Macromolecules 64th meeting - 42st microsymposium

Degradation, Stabilization and Recycling of Polymers

PRAGUE, 14 - 17 JULY 2003

The organizers of the present meeting cordially invite you to Prague in the third week of July 2003. Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is a beautiful historical city that regained much of its old beauty in recent years. The weather in July is mostly pleasant between 25-30°C. For more information please visit the Web at http://www.prague-info.cz/ .

SCOPE

The microsymposium is organized for experts from academia and industry interested in various aspects of polymer degradation and possible practical ways of its prevention. Emphasis will be also put on the latest achievements in research and industrial applications of polymer recycling. This meeting aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for discussions concerning environmental degradation of plastics, ways of minimizing waste production, measures to stimulate reuse and recycling of polymers and to contribute to cross-fertilization of ideas of polymer scientists and engineers based on the up-to-date knowledge.

TOPICS

  1. Degradation, stabilization and ageing of polymers
  2. Processing and melt stabilization of polymers, polymer blends and composites
  3. Testing and lifetime prediction of polymeric materials
  4. Polymer recycling - material and energy recovery

MAIN LECTURES

The following scientists have been invited to present main lectures:

SPECIAL LECTURES

About twenty special lectures (20 minutes each, additional 5 minutes for discussion) are to be presented at the Microsymposium.

If you wish to present a special lecture, please submit a brief summary along with the preliminary registration card to the P.M.M. Secretariat till 20th December 2002 (deadline shifted). In December 2002, the Microsymposium Programme Committee will inform the authors whether their lectures have been accepted. Both special speakers selected by the Program Committee and all the other participants can present their contributions as poster communications.

POSTER COMMUNICATIONS

Two poster sessions are planned (75-100 minutes each). The number of posters is not limited. Detailed information on the format of posters will be given in the Second Circular.

PUBLICATION

Summaries of invited main lectures, special lectures, and poster communications will appear in the Programme Booklet. Full texts of main and special lectures will be published in a special volume of Macromolecular Symposia.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Sessions:

All sessions of the meeting will take place in the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Heyrovského nám. 2, Praha 6.
