EUROPEAN POLYMER FEDERATION
CZECH CHEMICAL SOCIETY
Prague Meetings on Macromolecules
INSTITUTE OF MACROMOLECULAR CHEMISTRY
ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC
The conference continues in the tradition of two series of meetings: Prague Meetings on Macromolecules, organized since 1967, and International Conferences on Polymer-Solvent Complexes and Intercalates, held since 1996. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists involved in the study of polymer-solvent complexes, intercalates and interactions, who use different techniques and approaches. The conference should provide the opportunity to communicate and discuss their results.
Polymer-solvent interactions in solutions, gels, solids and interfaces. Structure (conformation, morphology, spectroscopy, SANS), phase transitions (phase diagram), rheology (mechanical properties), dynamics (relaxations) and applications of gels, solid materials, biopolymers and liquid crystals.
To date, the following scientists have accepted the invitation to present main lectures:
G. ten Brinke (University of Groningen, Netherlands): Comb-shaped
supramolecules: A concept for functional polymeric materials
D. Golodnitsky (Tel Aviv University, Israel): Highly
conductive oriented polymer electrolytes
J.-M. Guenet (Institut Charles Sadron CNRS, Strasbourg, France): Polymer-solvent
complexes and intercalates prepared under various conditions
M.W. Hosseini (Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France): Perspectives
in molecular tectonics
M.J. Miles (University of Bristol, United Kingdom): Force
spectroscopy studies of complexes with single polymer molecules
A.K. Nandi (Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science,
Calcutta, India): Thermoreversible gels of conducting polymers
C. Rossi (University of Siena, Italy): Ligand-macromolecules
interactions as determined by NMR studies
K. Tashiro (Osaka University, Japan): Microscopically-viewed
structural changes in solvent-induced phase transitions of
synthetic polymers
A.E. Tonelli (North Carolina State University, Raleigh, USA): Reorganization
of the structures, morphologies, and conformations of polymers by
coalescence from their crystalline inclusion compounds formed
with cyclodextrins
O.N. Tretinnikov (B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics,
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Minsk, Belarus): Conformational
characteristics of stereoregular poly(methyl methacrylate)s and
of the stereocomplex: new insights into the bulk and surface
structure from FTIR measurements
The scientific programmme consists of invited lectures of 40 min and 10 min for discussion, oral communications of 15 min and 5 min for discussion, and poster sessions.
Summaries of invited lectures, oral and poster communications will appear in the Programme Booklet. Full texts of invited lectures and selected oral and poster communications will be published in a special volume of Macromolecular Symposia.
All sessions of the meeting will take place in the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Heyrovského nám. 2, Praha 6.
Full information and final registration form will be included in the Second Circular to be sent out to all those who will preregister for the Conference by returning the attached preliminary registration card till 15 December 2001.
Full registration fee will be approx. 550-600 CHF ( including lunches and welcome reception); the exact amount will be specified in the Second Circular. Student registration fee will be 300 CHF (this fee will be available also for participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Georgia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Yugoslavia ). Accompanying person fee will be also 300 CHF. Payment of fees should be made along with the submission of final registration form.
All participants are invited to take part in social events to be specified in the Second Circular. A special programme will be arranged for registered accompanying persons.
Accommodation will be available in a hall of residence within easy reach from the Institute by public transport. Accommodation is not included in any registration fee.
A valid passport is required for entry into the Czech
Republic. Visas are generally valid for three months from the
date of issue; please note that your visa must be valid until the
end of your stay in the Czech Republic. Visas are not required if
participants come from countries with which the Czech Republic
has a visa-free agreement (their official list in Czech language
can be found at URL http://www.czechembassy.org/wwwo/mzv/default.asp?ido=4628&idj=1&amb=1
