CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR PAPERS
There is a long history of interaction between various theories of intentionality and our understanding of emotions. During the last century, philosophers extensively explored relations between these two domains and the debates are continuing.
The conference should encourage further discussion along various threads previous investigations have laid down. Our discussion will include, but will not be limited to, problems surrounding the status of the Brentano's thesis, the impact of naturalized theories of intentionality on emotion research, explanatory power of formal objects of emotions, normative character of emotional experiences and tenability of mood/emotion distinction. We believe that despite a great variety of answers put forward to the above-mentioned problems, there is one common idea that unites all these various issues: although lacking common theoretical framework, but being prominent in our mental life, emotions present a good test case for various theories of intentionality. Confrontation of research results from both emotion research and investigations of intentionality should proof mutually beneficial.
