Field of specialisation
Alena Křížková got her PhD in sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University in Prague. From 1996 to 1999 she worked in the department of Social Structure Transformation at the Institute of Sociology, AS CR, since 1999 Alena has been with the Gender & Sociology department where she is the deputy head. In 2003 she led a Public Opinion Poll on the Position of Women on Labor Market; in 2004 - 2005 she was in charge of the first research project mapping the occurrence of harassment and sexual harassment at workplace in CR, in 2006 Alena Křížková is the coauthor of a book
Sexualized Reality of the Working Relations (published in Czech in 2006, Institute of Sociology AS CR). Since 2005 she has been in charge of project Work – Life Balance in the Perspective of Gender Relations, Social and Employment Policies in CR. She is the coauthor of
Management of Gender Relations, Position of Women and Men in Organization, (published in Czech in 2004, Management Press).
Alena Křížková also deals with civic and political participation of women in relation to the Czech Republics´ accession to EU, has been coordinator of the Czech team on the project Constructing Supranational Political Spaces: The European Union, Eastern Enlargement, and Women's Agency, funded by NSF USA. Alena participated on the project Enlargement, gender and governance, funded by EC. She is a coeditor of book
In Multiple Voices: Negotiating Women's Spaces after 1989, (published in Czech with English abstracts in 2006, Institute of Sociology, AS).
She provides expertise to the European Commission on a regular basis as a member of a Network of Experts on Gender Equality in Employment and Social Inclusion.
