Department of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany at the University of Vienna holds meeting on the occasion of the retirement of Professor Johann Greilhuber. The symposium entitled “Plants and the evolution of their genomes” will take place on 5th November 2010 in Faculty Center Biodiversity (formerly Institute of Botany) of the University of Vienna. Already invited speakers include Michael Bennett, Ilia Leitch, Jaroslav Doležel, and Jan Suda, and the meeting will also include a special response from Johann Greilhuber. Speakers will talk about genome size, chromosomes, polyploidy, and heterochromatin, providing both historical overview and insight into future research.
