Structure, Management and Departments

The Institute is headed by the Director who chairs the Director Council. The Director Council consists of heads of research departments, and representatives of administration and service units. In the Director Council, operational and personal decisions are discussed and negotiated.

As for the matters of scientific and managing policy, the Director consults the Board of the Institute whose members are elected from professors and research scientists by the academic assembly of the Institute for a five-year period. Besides the ICPF research staff, the Board involves professors from universities, and experts from scientific societies and industry. The Board elects the chairman and vicechairman. The main task of the Board consist in discussing scientific activities, organisation and development. Other duties are to serve as an advisory body of the Director in operative matters, the submission of proposals for appointment and/or dismissal of the Director, and the nomination of candidates for both the Academic and Scientific Council of the ASCR.

Supervisory Board has been established by the Academy of Sciences of the CR.

ICPF is divided into Departments/Laboratories and Service Units. The Departments/Laboratories bear the responsibilities for research and postgraduate teaching. Their staff consists of research scientists, research assistants, graduate students and non-academic staff. Each department covers a distinct area of research.

In 1993, the International Advisory Board of the Institute was established, too.
