Häuberer, J. 2007-2009. The Measurement of Social Capital – The Czech Case. Grantová agentura UK, project no: 126507.

Starting point of the project is a combination of Social Capital theories from Bourdieu, Coleman, Putnam and Burt. A combination is used because the different theories focus on different aspects Social Capital consists of. With international focus the theory of Putnam could not be proofed in Europe especially in post-communist countries. The problem is that only formal networks are surveyed. Using the network analysis according to Burt’s theory only small networks, especially informal networks can be surveyed, but not the population of whole countries.
The aim of the project is the creation of adequate measurements of the combined concept of Social Capital and the application of these within the Czech Republic. The project is planned to take 3 years.
