Filip Matejka and Jan Palguta awarded by the Czech Economic Society, Filip Matejka (postdoc fellow at CERGE-EI, PhD Princeton 2010) received the first prize in the Young Economist of the Year, an annual competition held by the the Czech Economic Society. In addition, Jan Palguta, a 2nd year student at CERGE-EI, was awarded Honorable Mention of the Czech Economic Society's award for economists younger than 25 years of age. CERGE-EI congratulates the winners and wish them continued success in the future!

CERGE-EI Researcher Wins NFKJ Neutron Award in Economics, Michal Pakos, a Senior Researcher at CERGE-EI, has received the 2010 Neutron award in the field of economics. The annual Neutron awards were recently established by Nadacni fond Karla Janecka (Karel Janecek's Endowment Fund).

CERGE-EI involved with key activities of the EC Directorate-General for Employment, CERGE-EI, together with GHK, form the Core team coordinating European Employment Observatory (EEO) which contributes to developing the European Employment Strategy (EES) by providing information, comparative research, and evaluation on employment policies and labour market trends in the countries in the EU and EU candidate countries.
Additionally, at the beginning of 2009, CERGE-EI and GHK created a consortium assisting the European Commission in carrying out the Mutual Learning Programme. The main objectives of this programme have been to encourage and facilitate Member States to learn from each others' experiences and to enhance the transferability of best practices of labour market policies in priority areas of the Lisbon Strategy for Growth and Jobs.
