The Royal Marriage 1310

The exhibition 4 November 2010–6 February 2011, organized by the City Gallery Prague, Prague City Museum and the Prague City Archives, will be held on the occasion of the seven hundredth anniversary of John of Luxembourg's ascent to the Bohemian throne after his marriage to Princess Elisabeth Premyslid of Bohemia.

The main part of the exhibition is being prepared by a team of prominent Czech and foreign historians and art historians under the leadership of PhDr. Klára Benešovská, the Institute of Art History, the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The part of the exhibition, which is dedicated to Prage at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries, is being prepared by a team of experts led by Mgr. Pavla Státníková, Chief Curator of the Prague CIty Museum collections. The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the National Museum in Wroclaw, with support of the Polish Institute in Prague and the Institute of Art History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Prior to the opening of the exhibition in the Stone Bell House, a preliminary part of the exhibition focused on stohe sculpturing and architectural decoration details will be opened in September 2010 in the Lapidarium of the National Museum at Výstaviště, Prague 7 – Holešovice.

His Excellency Ambassador Jean Faltz of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in the Czech Republic and His Eminence Cardinal Miloslav Vlk, Archbishop Emeritus of Prague, have also kindly provided the auspices over the exhibition.
