The CERGE-EI Library, established in 1992, has grown into a rich resource of economic literature, housing journals and contemporary economic literature. Today it is considered the best library of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe and, as such, is an important center of services in Economics.

In 2006, the CERGE-EI Library joined The Nereus Consortium - a consortium of prestigious institutions in the world of academic economics. From July 2007, the NEREUS Consortium will be involved in building a new multilingual portal for economics, with a view to further promoting European research using a full-text search engine (the project called the Network of European Economists OnlineNEEO” in the eContentplus programme, DG information Society and Media) with 16 partners from eight European countries.

Apart from the fundamental collections, the CERGE-EI library houses the collection of books bought with the help of to the Austrian government grant. The library has been also enhanced thanks to a grant from the Austrian government, the Westinghouse Foundation and through support from the University of Pittsburgh. The serial collection has been enhanced over the years through grants from Komerční banka, a.s., and Česká národní banka.
