Ainura Uzagalieva graduated from Kyrgyz State University, Bishkek in the Faculty of Accounting and Commerce in 1993 and obtained a Diploma of Policy Science from the Graduate School of Policy Sciences, Saitama University, Urawa in 1996. From 1993 to 1999, she worked as an economist at the central bank of Kyrgyzstan, from October 2000 to June 2001 as a Researcher at the Center for Social and Economic Research in Kyrgyzstan (CASE-Kyrgyzstan). From November 1999 to June 2001, she was an economist at KPMG Consulting LLC (USAID Fiscal Reform Project, Bishkek). She pursued doctoral studies from June 2001 to May 2005 at CERGE, Prague, Czech Republic (M.A. degree in Economics awarded in 2004, Ph.D. in 2006). She received a World Bank Fellowship in 2003, and from November 2006 to October 2007, she worked in various international research projects as a Researcher from CASE. Since November 2006, she has become a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since October 2007, she has been working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Center of Applied Economics Studies of the Atlantic (CEEAplA), the University of the Azores.
