Meteorological Observatory Dlouha Louka

Once the Experimental Laboratory of Wind Energy was established in 1993, it was involved into the research project "Experimental Wind Power Station" funded by the Czech Energy Company (ČEZ). At Dlouha louka, Krusne hory (The Ore Mts., 870 m above MSL), the specialized observatory was built equipped with a 48 m high lattice-work meteorological mast and an experimental wind turbine EWT 315kW. The investigation was aimed at measuring of wind speed, its vertical profile and turbulence characteristics at a mountain site and at evaluation of the influence of turbulence, icing and electric discharges on the operation and performance of the wind turbine. After the finalization of the project the wind power station was dismantled, but the measuring of some meteorological elements was maintained.
