Biogas is a mixture of many gases produced by anaerobic digestion of plant and animal waste. During the process, biomass is decomposed by bacteria under anaerobic conditions and methane; carbon dioxide and other gases like ammonia or hydrogen sulphide rise. The composition of biogas differs due to its origin (agriculture, landfill, sewerage plant) so the methane content in biogas varies from 50 to 70 vol. %. It is the very methane content, which causes that biogas can be used as an ecological fuel.
The goal of this work is to find a way to lower carbon dioxide concentration in biogas, to remove undesirable gases and to increase methane concentration up to 95 vol. % by membrane separation process. Sweeping gas permeation was performed with model mixture of CO2 and CH4 in a ratio 1:1. ER-TI1/245
