Medals of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic
The Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic awards the following medals:
- The Honorary Medal "De Scientia et Humanitate Optime Meritis" (the highest distinction) recognizes Czech as well as foreign personalities for their exceptionally meritorious contributions in the area of science and the promotion of humanitarian ideas.
- Honorary Medals of Science recognize scientific excellence attained by Czech and foreign scientists in any field of science.
- The Jan Patočka Memorial Medal recognizes results of the work of Czech and foreign scientists or persons promoting science.
- The Vojtěch Náprstek Honorary Medal recognizes the merits of publicists and scientists in the popularisation of science achieved by their ongoing systematic and purposeful activities to publicise information about science.
Scientific Councils of Academy institutes and the Council for Sciences of the ASCR submit proposals for awarding the medal "De Scientia et Humanitate Optime Meritis", Medals of Science and The Jan Patočka Memorial Medal. The Coucil for Sciences of the ASCR, the Council for Science Popularisation of the ASCR and the Editorial Board of the ASCR propose recipients for the Vojtěch Náprstek Honorary Medal for merit in the popularisation of science.
Nominations for awarding medals are submitted in writing by 31 March of the calendar year or by 30 September of the calendar year.
Awarded Medals
