Postdoctoral position in MS-based proteomics
Background
A postdoctoral position in MS-based proteomics is available in the group of Dr. Josef Cvačka, Research-Service Team Mass Spectrometry, Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry AS CR, v.v.i. (IOCB) Prague, Czech Republic. The expected starting date is October 1, 2010.
Duties
The postdoctoral research fellow will work in a team supervised by Dr. Josef Cvačka. The team uses mass spectrometers to identify organic compounds with interesting biological functions and develops new methods for their analysis. Besides their own research the group also provides routine measurements for the scientific staff of the Institute. The postdoctoral research fellow will use mass spectrometry to provide collaborative support for IOCB researchers on projects related to proteins and peptides. S(he) will be responsible for suggesting the best analytical strategy and for sample measurement. Protein identification, quantification, PTM detection and peptide sequencing will be among the most frequent tasks.
Qualifications
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. in the area of chemistry or biology and must have experience and/or education/training in mass spectrometry. The applicant should have the ability to plan, execute and interpret experiments independently; the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues; high level inter-personal and communication skills; and aptitude for research as demonstrated by publications in high quality international journals.
Salary
This is a full-time, fixed term appointment initially for 2 years with possibility of extension. The salary amounts to CZK 30 000 each month. In addition to the salary the Institute will pay obligatory part of the health and social insurance (about 2/3). The salary is subject of state tax.
Additional Notes
The EU citizens will need no work permit, the other will get it from the Czech Embassy in their own country. The Institute will provide the necessary documents for obtaining the work permit and help (at the expenses of applicant).
