The local currency & exchange rates

The currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech crown (Kc) (CZK).

1 US$ = approx. 18 Kc, 1 Euro = approx. 25 Kc

There is a large number of exchange offices in Prague. They differ slightly in exchange rates; differences in service charges can be much larger: you should check the commission beforehand. Be careful: some exchange offices display the sell rates for foreign currency, not the buy rates.

Public transportation in Prague

Prague public transportation is integrated – tickets are valid on all forms of public transport. The tickets must be bought in advance. They are sold at tobacconists, newsagents and from the ticket machines located at the metro stations and elsewhere (see).

On buses and trams you must punch your ticket immediately after getting on. At the metro, the ticket must be punched at the entrance. Once punched, the standard ticket (26 CZK) is valid on the Prague city transportation network for 75 minutes. For details please consult the posters by the entrance to the metro. How to reach Villa Lanna (see map)

The accommodation for the paticipants is reserved in the site of the conference Villa Lanna and in Villa Marna (5 minutes walk from Villa Lanna). Both are located in a quiet residential area close to several embassies, 10 minutes´ distance by walk from the subway station Hradcanska (see); very close to the Stromovka park; 15 minutes´ distance by walk from the Prague Castle.

How to reach Villa Lanna from the airport:

-by taxi

You can order a cab at a price about 350 CZK. If you decide to take a cab, we suggest to order it at AAA taxi company at +420 14014 or +420 222 333 222.

If you take the ordinary taxi at the airport, you risk higher price (see Taking a Taxi in Prague).

-by public transport:

Take bus no 119 to DEJVICKA station (final stop). Tickets machines (you will need coins) are at the bus stop. You can also buy tickets at the terminal. Buy transfer ticket for 26 CZK. Some more information about tickets can be found at http://www.dpp.cz/en/fares-in-prague/ .


You can also use so called Airport Express to DEJVICKA station. Above mentioned tickets are not valid for this bus, special ticket for 30 CZK can be bougt from the driver.

From DEJVICKA we suggest to use subway line A (green line ) to get to HRADCANSKA station (just one station) then walk approx. 500m (see map)

How to reach Villa Lanna from HLAVNI NADRAZI (the Main Railway Station) or from NADRAZI HOLESOVICE (Nadrazi Holesovice railway station):

-by taxi

Price from HLAVNI NADRAZI should be about 150 CZK, from NADRAZI HOLESOVICE about 120. We recommend that you not hail a taxi in Prague. If you do so you will probably be overcharged. In particular, we very strongly recommend that you do not attempt to take a taxi from taxi stands at the railway stations or elsewhere. On the other hand, you can order a taxi by phone, and these are in general reliable. The organizers have used AAA Taxi, tel. 14014. AAA speak English, and can provide you with the approximate cost of the journey over the phone. City Taxi, 257 257 257, are also reliable.

-by public transport

Buy 18 CZK ticket from HLAVNI NADRAZI , 26 CZK ticket from NADRAZI HOLESOVICE - (you will need coins) are in front of the subway entrance, use line C (red line) to the station MUZEUM , change to line A (green line) and go to the station HRADCANSKA (4th) then walk approx. 500m (see map)
