A:The laboratory uses its own intramuscular isotransplantation model to study the impact of genetic and external factors on the expression of muscle specific proteins (Jirmanová I., Soukup T.: Critical period in muscle spindle regeneration in grafts of developing rat muscle. Anat. Embryol.192:283-291, 1995).
B: A regenerated slow soleus muscle of euthyroid animals after isotransplantation completely transforms into a fast muscle due to the "fast innervation" by the peroneal nerve. However, T3 levels in hypothyroid animals are not high enough for full expression of genes responsible for fast myosin heavy chain isoforms synthesis and that is why a significant number of transplanted fibre types have low mATPase activity typical for slow fibres.
