Eugen Kováč graduated with honours from the Comenius University in Bratislava in the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics in 2001 (field: Mathematical Analysis and Algebra), and also received the degree RNDr. in 2002. He received an M.A. in Economics in 2003 and a Ph.D. in Economics in 2006 at CERGE-EI, Prague (Citigroup Foundation Scholarship in 2002 and World Bank Fellowship in 2003). He was a visiting student at the University of Bonn in 2004-2005 (Marie Currie Fellowship). Since July 2005, he has been a Junior Researcher at the Economics Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. From 2005-2008, he was a post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Bonn. Since 2008, he is a Junior Professor for Applied Microeconomics and Management at the University of Bonn.
