RECRUITMENT - Six NEW POSITIONS in research departments

J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the ASCR, v.v.i., offers

***One postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Stepan Sklenak at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, Czech Republic. The postdoctoral fellow will use periodic DFT and QM/MM approaches to model the structure, reactivity, catalytic activity and properties of zeolite based materials. The scientific work will be done in a close collaboration with experimentalists. The positions require a strong scientific background in either computational (applied quantum) chemistry (experience with QM/MM and periodic DFT approaches is a plus) or solid state physics (experience with periodic DFT approaches for studying crystalline solids is a plus). The applicant must hold a PhD. degree in chemistry or physics.

Interested individuals should send an e-mail containing their CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references. The position is initially for 1 year with a possibility of an extension.

The position will be financed by the GACR project (No. 203/09/1627)

*** Two positions in the Laboratory of electrocatalysis on solid surfaces of the Department of electrocatalysis.

Qualification requirements: PhD in physical chemistry, material science or related field, postdoctoral experience is an advantage.

The successful candidate should be capable of independent scientific work in the area of synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline electrocatalysts.
More information can be found at http://www.jh-inst.cas.cz/~sse/.

The application should contain a cover letter, application form and professional CV including the list of publications and the names and e-mails of two persons capable of providing the reference.

The positions are supported in part J. Heyrovsky Institute and in part by the Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

***One postdoctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Martin Hof at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, Czech Republic. The postdoctoral fellow will use Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting as well as Single Molecule Fluorescence Microscopy in a project aiming for the elucidating the Dynamic/Hydration-Function Relationships in Hydrolytic Enzymes. The scientific work will be done in a close collaboration with protein scientists and computational chemists. The positions require a strong scientific background in Time-Correlated Single Photon Counting as well as Fluorescence Microscopy. Moreover, experience in protein/membrane biophysics is appreciated. The applicant must hold a PhD. degree in chemistry or physics or be close to the submission of the PhD. Thesis.

Interested individuals should send an e-mail containing their CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references. The position is initially for 2 years with a possibility of an extension.

The position will be financed by Czech Ministry of Education grant (LC06063) and an Academy of Sciences Award (Praemium Academiae).

***One postdoctoral position in the Photoelectron Spectroscopy Group at the Department of Spectroscopy of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The postdoctoral fellow should have at least a basic knowledge on application of surface analytical techniques. The specific area of research is flexible and will be related to laser deposition of metal and oxide nanoparticles and examination of their physico-chemical properties by electron and ion spectroscopy methods and by interaction with probe molecules.

Required qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry, or Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science. Interested individuals should send an e-mail to Ing. Jan PLŠEK, Ph. D. containing their CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references. The position is initially for 1 year with a possibility of an extension.

***One permanent position as full time researcher in the Photoelectron Spectroscopy Group at the Department of Spectroscopy of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Candidates with outstanding CVs and demonstrated excellence in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology will be especially considered. J. Heyrovský Institute welcomes applicants with previous academic or industrial laboratory experience (at least 3 years of Postdoctoral experience).

Qualifications: Prospective candidates must have UHV experience, be familiar with surface science methods and have an interest in working with electron and ion methods to analyze nanostructures. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or another appropriate Engineering field. We place special emphasis on collaboration skills and the ability to lead research projects.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, a statement of current and future research interests, curriculum vitae and a publication list and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to director of J. Heyrovský Institute (directoratjh-inst.cas.cz).

The J. Heyrovsky Institute is located in the beautiful and safe city of Prague (the capital of the Czech Republic). Prague offers outstanding opportunities for culture and entertainment.
