The research activity being pursued in the Department of Semiconductor Structures could be sorted into the following major directions:
- the use of rare earth elements to improve the preparation of InP and PbI2 based semiconductor materials for detection of ionizing radiation. Theoretical models are elaborated to stimulated the influence of the presence of rare earth elements in the preparation process on the growth mechanism.
- research of the GaInP2/GaAs heterostructures for radiation resistant solar cells and technique development for anodic micro/nano pores etching in GaInP2 and AIIIBV semiconductors
- preparation and experimental study of new linear and non-linear optically active crystals for optoelectronics and photonics.
- study of nonlinear behaviour of biological cells, in particular mechanisms of electromagnetic radiation generation in cells (Frőhlich systems). Emphasis is on the feedback phenomena operating at cellular and subcellular levels determining qualitative and quantitative characteristics.
