Prospective Students

The Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) offers Masters and Doctoral programs in Economics as well as an undergraduate  study -abroad program. The organization operates entirely in English and is home to students from dozens of countries in a true international academic environment. 

 

 

MA/PhD in Economics

The MA/PhD program consists of two years of coursework followed by two to three years of supervised dissertation research. Students earn a Master of Arts degree after completing the two-year coursework. Students continuing with the dissertation research earn a PhD degree after defending the dissertation. Students are encouraged to conduct part of their dissertation research at partner institutions in Western Europe and North America, as well as to participate in collaborative research projects in other countries.

 

Masters of Applied Economics (MAE)

For those seeking a more concentrated career-oriented degree without the research focus of a PhD, CERGE-EI offers a Masters of Applied Economics (MAE) program. This program enables students to complete their studies in a single 12 month period while obtaining a U.S. degree with world-wide acceptance.

 

Undergraduate Program in Central European Studies (UPCES)

Designed for North American undergraduates seeking deep exposure to Central European history, politics, economics and culture, the UPCES program brings excellent university students to Prague to study under a prestigious faculty of scholars and industry leaders. In addition to providing the highest academic standards, UPCES is also designed to give students real exposure to every-day life in Central Europe.
