Graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. degree in Economics in 1991. Received an M.A. in Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1994, and a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Minnesota in 1996. Lecturer at Penn State University from 1996 to 1997. Faculty member and researcher at CERGE-EI since 1997. Mellon Endowment Professor at CERGE-EI since 2002. Rewarded tenure by the Executive and Supervisory Committee of CERGE-EI in 2003. Visiting professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona from 2003 to 2004.
