Czech historical space within a european context. Diversity, continuity, integration.

The HI carries out ongoing research in history of the Bohemian Lands and their society within the framework of Europe and the world. This research is realized in current work and the IRP. Towards the end of the 20th century the HI has embarked upon a systematic internal re–structuring which leads from partial tasks exclusively implemented by individual researchers towards the team model of resolving large–impact projects. The IRP's completion in 2010 should co–incide with the completion of this transformation, and be documented in HI's major results with wide social impact. The IRP will be implemented in the following tasks: 1.Systematic compilation of resources on the status of the Bohemian Lands in Europe; 2. Comprehensive treatment of selected thematic fields from Czech and European history; 3. Multivolume collaborative publications with wide social impact; 4. Promoting international research communication; 5.Resolving fundamental themes and summing them up in final analyses.
