DEPARTMENT DETAILS
Department of Signal Processing

Chairman: Petr Horák, Ph.D.
Division: Division of Electronics Systems and Signals

The research department consists mainly of speech analysis and synthesis and interaction of electromagnetic fields with biological systems. In the field of speech analysis and synthesis the research focuses on systems for converting written text to speech with high intelligibility and naturalness in both segmental and suprasegmental level, focusing on the using in information systems and for the blind. Great attention is paid to voice conversion methods.

In the region of interaction of electric and magnetic fields with living cells mechanisms of generation of electromagnetic emission in cells are analyzed (Frohlich's systems). Emphasis is laid on feedback relations in cellular and sub-cellular phenomena that determine the qualitative and quantitative characteristics.
