Joint Masters Students
The Joint Masters in Economics is uniquely designed for academically motivated students with a Bachelor's degree who would like to obtain a PhD in economics and pursue careers in the global academic sector or international organizations.
The program is run jointly by CERGE-EI and the Institute of Economics Studies (IES) at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University. It combines the Master courses at the IES with the MA/PhD courses at CERGE-EI such that by completing the program the student:
- obtains the Master's degree in Economics from IES
- completes the 1st year of MA/PhD coursework at CERGE-EI with the expectation to be admitted to the 2nd year of the MA/PhD program at CERGE-EI
During the Joint Masters program the students are enrolled into the Masters program “Economics” at IES. By entering the Joint Masters program students have an option to enroll into the 1st year PhD courses at CERGE-EI instead of corresponding courses at IES and receive credits for them. For example, a student can choose to take a PhD courses Microeconomics I at CERGE-EI which would be recognized as passing the equivalent Master-level Microeconomics courses at IES.
Application deadline is February 28.
