The study deals with the origins of Czech entreprenurship in the time span since 1920s until late transition period. It is argued and tested on data that both the capitalist remote past and the communist not-so-late legacy were important in shaping the evolution of new grand entrepreneurs of the post-communist period. The structure of entrepreneurial new elite has been dramatically changing as the conditions in capital endowment and institutional setup evolved during transition.
