Kuprej (Bos sauveli) je v současnosti jedním z nejvzácnějších druhů turů, jehož existence v přírodě (oblast bývalé Indočíny a Thajsko) je velmi nejistá a není ani chován v lidské péči. Příspěvek shrnuje historii postupného objevu a poznávání tohoto tura, pokusy o jeho ochranu i přetrvávající vědeckou diskuzi o platnosti tohoto taxonu (druh, kříženec jiných druhů?).

The article summarizes the history of its discovery, attempts to effectively conserve the mammalian species and continuing scientific debate on its classification (as a wild or feral species, or a hybrid).
