Academic bulletin

Akademický bulletin is a magazine published by the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, which appears monthly (double issue in July/August).

The magazine is distributed without charge to Academy institutes, universities, government agencies, scientific institutions, non-profit organizations, publishing houses, embassies etc. Some 2450 copies of the magazine are printed for the institutions mentioned, plus some copies for persons interested in being added to the mailing list.

Akademický bulletin contains official information from meetings of the Academy Council of the Academy of Sciences and the Research and Development Council (an advisory body to the Government of the Czech Republic). It also includes articles about the latest scientific findings, exchanges of opinion at the Academy and the scientific community at home and abroad, reports or photo reports from important events. In addition it features reports of press conferences, interviews with scientists, other representatives of European scientific institutions and participants of international congresses.

Akademický bulletin remembers "Grand Old Men of Science" and introduces current scientists with special attention to young researchers. Pages are regularly reserved for scientific societies, long-range scientific projects, and scientists awarded prizes by the Academy. An additional section is devoted to announcements, advertisements, public competition for scientific and technological grants, scholarships, internships, job offers and competition at institutions. Book reviews from the publishing houses Academia and Filosofia are found regularly within the pages of Akademický bulletin. A special section focuses extensively on some research issues or scientific questions and centres, usually through interviews with leading authorities in the field of science.
