RECRUITMENT - Four NEW POSITIONS in research departments

J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the ASCR, v.v.i., offers:

*** One postdoctoral position is available in the Mass Spectrometry Group (in Dr. Ján Žabka, CSc. team ) in the Department of Spectroscopy of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, Czech Republic.

The project aims to obtain data on the kinetics and dynamics of reactions of ions with molecules relevant for modeling Titan's atmosphere and ionosphere, including the identification of processes that determine the reaction cross sections and describe the mechanisms required for planetologists to create numerical models. A combination of several experimental techniques will be utilized for these purposes, namely guided-ion beam mass spectrometry (GIB MS), and collision induced dissociation mass-analyzed ion kinetic energy spectrometry (CID MIKES).

The position (net salary ~1000 euro monthly) requires a strong scientific background in physical chemistry, mass spectrometry techniques, and ion-molecular reaction in the gas phase.

The applicant must hold a PhD. degree in Chemistry or Physics (max. April 2012).

Interested individuals should send an e-mail containing their CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references.
The position is initially for 1 year with a possibility of an extension.

*** One permanent position as full time researcher in the Department of Synthesis and Catalysis of the the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague, Czech Republic.

Candidates with outstanding CVs and demonstrated excellence in the field of synthesis of novel materials for adsorption will be especially considered.

Qualifications: The applicant must hold a PhD. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or another appropriate Engineering field (max. April 2012). We place special emphasis on collaboration skills and the ability to lead research projects.

Applicant should submit a cover letter, a statement of current and future research interests, curriculum vitae and list of publications.

*** One postdoctoral position in the Photoelectron Spectroscopy Group at the Department of Spectroscopy of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

The postdoctoral fellow should have at least a basic knowledge on application of surface analytical techniques. The specific area of research is flexible and will be related to laser deposition of metal and oxide nanoparticles and examination of their physico-chemical properties by electron and ion spectroscopy methods and by interaction with probe molecules.

Required qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry, or Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science. Interested individuals should send an e-mail to Ing. Jan PLŠEK, Ph. D. containing their CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references. The position is initially for 1 year with a possibility of an extension.

*** One permanent position as full time researcher in the Photoelectron Spectroscopy Group at the Department of Spectroscopy of the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Candidates with outstanding CVs and demonstrated excellence in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology will be especially considered. J. Heyrovský Institute welcomes applicants with previous academic or industrial laboratory experience (at least 3 years of Postdoctoral experience).
Qualifications: Prospective candidates must have UHV experience, be familiar with surface science methods and have an interest in working with electron and ion methods to analyze nanostructures. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or another appropriate Engineering field. We place special emphasis on collaboration skills and the ability to lead research projects.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, a statement of current and future research interests, curriculum vitae and a publication list and arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent to director of J. Heyrovský Institute (directoratjh-inst.cas.cz).
