will organize on February 23-27, 2004 the winterschool on

 ENVIRONMENTAL AND INDUSTRIAL CFD SIMULATIONS

The winterschool will be held in the building of the Institute of Thermomechanics AS CR.

The aim of the winterschool is to give an extensive overview of the problematics of CFD simulations in the environmental and industrial problems solution. The actual state of the art of CFD simulations in both environmental and industrial applications will be presented with special attempt on common points and differences of these two specific areas of the CFD usage.

Scope of the winterschool

Topic
Responsible lecturer(s)
Introduction to mathematical fluid mechanics A. Novotny, J. Neustupa
Advanced numerical methods for CFD simulations M. Feistauer, Ph. Angot
Applied numerical methods for industrial problems solution J. Fort, J. Furst
Applied numerical methods for environmental problems solution K. Kozel, T. Bodnar
Physical characteristics of environmental flows Ph. Fraunie, J. M. Redondo
Hyperbolic systems and optimal control
P. Helluy, J. Xing
Turbulence modelling
J. Prihoda, Z. Janour

During the winterschool an international conference on Topical Problems of Fluid Mechanics is organized in the institute where the winterschool lectures take a place. All the students are strongly encouraged to attend the conference and to present their works in the special poster session. Two page extended abstract of their work will be published in the conference proceedings. All the other participants are automatically registered for the conference too, with the possibility to present a short lecture with the abstract to be published in the conference proceedings. The winterschool fee covers also registration fee for this meeting, including all the materials distributed to conference participants.

Registration fees

Early registration
(paid by bank transfer before February 13. 2004)
120 Euro
Late registration fee
(paid at the registration desk)

The registration fee covers organization expenses of winterschool and conference including one issue of Proceedings. The costs of  lunch and small refreshment during the seminars are included.  Small amount of money will be distributed among the participants to cover their dinner expenses during the week.

Limited number of grants is available for attending students and young researchers. It should cover (at least partially) the winterschool registration fee and the accommodation expenses (see the next section). The students applying for the grant will be notified about the acceptance until the January 15. 2004.

If you apply for the students grant, do not pay the registration fee before being informed about the acceptance of your application. In the case you will not obtain the grant, you will be charged by the early registration fee even for the registration desk payment.

Accommodation

In general, the accommodation expenses are not included in the registration fee.
However a limited number of  single and double rooms will be available for students and lecturers in the hotel Crystal. The accommodation is partly sponsored by the Czech Technical University and will  be free of charge for the lecturers and students who will obtain the "student grant" funding according to the above conditions (i.e. according to the number of applications and available budget). Some additional places could be booked in the hotel Excellent in the vicinity of the winterschool venue. All the registered participants will be notified about their hotel reservations together with the acceptance of student grant applications (see the Important dates below).
In the case you require a help with accommodation booking, please contact the organizers.
